Scientists explored deep waters around Trinidad and Tobago aboard R/V Falkor (too), with a research team led from the Caribbean.
The expedition documented 25 cold seep ecosystems in a region where most marine territory lies beyond recreational diving depths.
Researchers reported 20 candidate new species and collected more than 700 specimens for further scientific study.
The specimens will stay at the University of the West Indies, greatly expanding the region's deep-sea research collection.
