Why New Skills Matter More Than Ever at Work
Relatório da OCDE mostra que, em um mercado de trabalho mais instável e exigente, o diploma continua importante, mas aprender continuamente faz cada vez mais diferença. A notícia também destaca como origem social e acesso a oportunidades influenciam quem consegue avançar.
Level 1 (Iniciante – A2)
A new OECD report says the world of work is changing fast. Many jobs now ask people to learn, adapt and solve new problems. The report says a degree is still important, but it is not the only thing that helps people grow. Workers also need strong reading, number and thinking skills. They need to understand information, make decisions and keep learning over time. In today’s job market, people who can learn new skills often have better chances to find good jobs and grow in their careers. Technology, economic change and new ways of working are changing what companies want. Because of this, many workers are looking for ways to improve their skills, not only their diplomas. The report explains that modern work is asking for more flexibility and more learning.
The report also says that not everyone has the same chance to build these skills. People from families with more education often get better learning opportunities. They may study more languages, use more digital tools and join better training programs. Other adults may have fewer chances, even when they work hard. This is why lifelong learning is so important. It means learning during your whole life, not only at school or university. Adults can take courses, practise English, read more and build useful habits. The OECD says governments and companies should help more people learn in flexible ways. In a changing job market, a degree can open a door, but people also need to face new problems and keep growing through lifelong learning. That is becoming an important part of career success.
