Parks Australia completed the final release of 1,000 captive-bred Campbell's keeled glass-snails on Norfolk Island.
After almost 25 years without a sighting, a citizen scientist helped researchers rediscover the species in 2020.
Snails detected a year after the first release are likely descendants born naturally in the rainforest.
The release is complete, but monitoring and predator control must continue before the population can be called secure.
